The Afghan Schools Trust is a small charity dedicated to improving the lives and opportunities of children in Afghanistan.

We fund and support community initiatives, particularly in areas outside the reach of government or NGO assistance.

So far we have provided complete funding for five schools educating over 700 girls and boys in Nuristan, northeast Afghanistan.

We also fund teacher training courses for the local men and women who run and staff the schools.

Education is vital to health, welfare and long term peace and stability. It links directly to decreasing mortality rates, creating equality and reducing poverty.

Even a basic education gives people the resources and confidence to voice their opinions and overcome oppression.
